Design Notes
802.11a/b Power Amplifier (PA) Test Bench
This example can be used to test a PA's adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) and error vector magnitude (EVM) performance.
In each system diagram a text data file is used to import the AM/AM and AM/PM characteristics of the amplifier under test.
There are individual system diagrams for ACPR and EVM measurements.
In the ACPR system diagrams the following graphs are displayed:
1. The amplified signal spectrum versus the spectral mask.
2. A graph that displays:
a. The instantaneous signal power versus the AM/AM curve of the amplifier under test.
b. The instantaneous phase content of the signal versus the AM/PM curve of the amplifier under test.
3. ACPR versus swept output power for particular offset values.
Other ACPR measurements can be viewed by selecting any of the remaining ACPR graphs in the project tree.
In the EVM system diagrams you will see a reference IQ plot versus the measured IQ plot. The EVM measurements are displayed in a table format and are in dB. The EVM measurements are made at one power level. Swept EVM measurements are supported by the EVM_PS measurement.
Please read the online help for information on any of the blocks that are used in the system diagrams. In addition, please read the online help for ACPR and EVM measurements.
