Multi-carrier EDGE System

This example demonstrates the generation of a multi-carrier EDGE signal to drive a Microwave Office Power Amplifier (PA) design in order to make Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR) measurements at various signal power levels.

Several complex sources, SRC_C, generate the EDGE signal at different center frequencies. The sources read the text data file "IQ_Edge_98", which contains I and Q data of an EDGE signal.

The combiner generates a multi-carrier signal. A behavioral mixer is used to upconvert the signals to 889.6MHz, 890MHz and 890.4MHz. The output of the mixer is used to drive a Microwave Office PA circuit design.

The VSS block NL_S characterizes the Microwave Office PA circuit at the system level.

The signal power at the PA input is automatically swept as the simulation runs.

You can monitor:

• The fluctuations of ACPR vs. Input power of the amplifier.

• The instantaneous power and average power of the multi-carrier signal relative to the AMtoAM characteristics of the PA.

• The spectrum of the three signals.

• The spectrum of the RF signal.
