Users with floating licenses can control various operating parameters of their licensing. For example, they can create user groups that have a certain number of license features reserved for them, or create groups that cannot access certain license features. They can also restrict the number of licenses available.
The options file is described in detail in
Managing The Options File
in the License Administration Guide available in the Flexlm utilities, Where can I get the latest FLEXLM utilities for the AWRDE?
The options file is a text file that you should name
and put in the same directory as the
files (usually C:/flex_lm). Some commonly used option keywords are: INCLUDE, EXCLUDE, GROUP, RESERVE, and GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE.
The following is a sample options file:
GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE ON GROUP MWOUSER user1 user2 GROUP MWOPOWER user3 user4 EXCLUDE MWO_225 GROUP MWOPOWER RESERVE 2 VSS_350 GROUP MWOUSER
NOTE: You must save the options file in ANSI format (for example, Windows Notepad but not Windows WordPad), or it will not work.
Once the options file is in place, restart the server and all newly checked out licenses will adhere to its rules.
The AWRDE displays errors in License Status if the options affect getting licenses.
