We are happy you have become a Cadence customer using AWR Software. You have made the right choice and we are excited to have you using our software. We believe you will spend more time doing engineering work and less time managing your design now that you are using AWR software. This page is to help guide new customers get the software up and running.
Step 1. Get Your Purchased License
Once your purchase order has been processed, you or someone at your company will be emailed the license file. At this point you are ready to get your purchased license file up and running.
Step 2. Download the Software
You will need to make a support account on Cadence systems and download the software this way. Please use this article as a guide as to how to register on the Cadence website and download the software. Cadence Website Access
If you downloaded and installed the software during an evaluation, you are all set. The software used during evaluation is identical to the software used for a purchase.
You need to know your license server HOSTID when you register as this is the information to assign your registration to your account which contains your products and license files.
Step 2. Download the Floating License Utilities
At this point in the AWR integration the AWR software is using the AWRD licensing daemon and you will need to get the floating licensing utilities from the AWR Knowledgebase: Download the AWR Licensing Utilities
Step 5. Pointing to your Floating License Server
Please see the Installation Guide for setting up a floating license server, Floating License Server Directions in the section Configuring Floating Licensing on Client Workstations.
(Note, I hate that the install guide doesn't have images. This used to be because we printed it smaller to fit in a CD case but having the images for these directions make this so much easier to follow).
Step 3. Setup Your Floating License Server
Please see the Installation Guide for setting up a floating license server, Floating License Server Directions in the section Installing the FLEXlm Server.
Below are a few steps that will help configure the license files issued from Cadence.
Also get the file "cdslmd.exe" and put with the other files listed.
In the file, for the line "DAEMON cdslmd ./cdslmd", if the file "cdslmd.exe" is in the same directory as the license file, you can delete the ./cdslmd portion. If not, change this to be the absolute path to the cdslmd.exe file.
The same is true for the "DAEMON awrd ./awrd" line as described in item 2.
The guide describes a port number of 27007. Cadence floating license files default to 5280.
